Complaints come in pairs for Creston RCMP

Creston RCMP responded to 51 calls for service from January 2-8, Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Monday. Currie is now detachment commander in Creston, replacing Staff Sgt. Darryl Hammond, who retired early in 2017. The detachment’s three corporals have rotated through the acting commander’s position in the interim.

January 2

• Two vehicles had tires slashed overnight and police continue to investigate the incidents.

January 3

• Two individuals were investigated and charges are pending for both after they were found to have breached bail and probation conditions.

January 4

• Police received a complaint about inappropriate comments being made on social media about a person.

• Canadian Border Security Agency personnel at Kingsgate reported that an armed male could be attempting to enter Canada. It was determined that he did not attempt entry.

January 5

• Continuing the week’s theme of similar incidents occurring in pairs, two separate reports of intoxicated persons causing disturbances were investigated.

January 6

• And two separate calls were received about disputes causing disturbances, and another about with a residential noise complaint.

January 7

• A person who went into the back country near Kootenay Pass did not return or report in on time and police were called to assist in a search. The missing person made contact early in the morning on January 8.

January 8

• Road conditions appear to be a factor in a single vehicle collision in which occupants sustained minor injuries. The incident was also attended by Creston Fire Rescue and Emergency Health Services.
