In the slowest week of the summer, Creston RCMP responded to an unusually low 75 calls from August 21-28, RCMP Staff Sgt. Ryan Currie said on Monday.
August 21
• Police got a report about a car theft in Creston but the vehicle had been towed from a parking lot.
• An unwanted person in a residence drew a visit from the police.
• A family disturbance that turned violent led to a police investigation.
• Police received a complaint about an assault but after an the investigation the person had apparently fallen and hit his head.
• No assault was found to have taken place when police investigated a domestic disturbance in Creston.
August 22
• Police were called to investigate a male yelling in a residence, but the disturbance was caused by misbehaving children.
• When a drone operator in Riondel could not locate his machine after it crashed on private land he reported to police that he suspected the landowner had taken it.
• A report of a landlord/tenant dispute came from West Creston.
• When police checked into a reported child custody concern they determined there was no concern for the child’s safety.
August 23
• Charges are pending after police responded to a report about a breach of a protection order.
• When police checked on an argument that threatened to turn violent at a Creston residence they found two intoxicated friends arguing over their turkey lunch.
• A reported intoxicated shirtless male falling on cars outside of a local business turned out to be a sober male playing hacky sack. “Poorly,” Currie said.
August 24
• A horse was reported to be running loose on Highway 3A in Wynndel.
• Two employees in Creston got into an argument, which led to a broken computer.
• Police have yet to determine whether charges are warranted following a fight at a local business.
• Police were called to check on loud music at a Creston residence.
August 25
• Police could not locate a reported intoxicated male walking in the middle of Northwest Boulevard,
• No entry was noted when police investigated a possible break and enter to a construction site.
• Nothing suspicious or dangerous was found when police visited a Kingsgate property to investigate a report about a suspicious person with a gun.
• Another assault stemming from the previous night’s fight was investigated.
August 26
• An alcohol-fueled fight on the front lawn of a residence in Lister led to the arrest of one person so that he could sober up.
• No assault or injury was found when police went to a home to investigate a possible domestic disturbance.
August 27
• A report about an illegal fire in Wynndel was referred to the BC Conservation Officer Service.
• Police were called to intervene when one neighbour accused another of taking photos without consent.
August 28
• Police investigated a break and enter and theft from a vehicle in Crawford Bay.
