January 4

•A potentially difficult male had left the Creston Valley Hospital before police arrived on the scene.

•Creston RCMP co-operated with a Nelson City Police case by arresting a female at an Erickson Road residence, then releasing her with a court date pending.

•A warning letter has been sent to the owner of a light coloured van reported to be driving erratically on Northwest Boulevard.

•A male resident of the 300 block of Leadville Road was issued a firearms prohibition as the result of an incident last year.

•Minor damage resulted when one pickup backed into another in the 3300 block of Highway 3.

•Police were called to help with the transport of a male from Crawford Creek Road to the hospital under the Mental Health Act.

January 5

•A 16-year-old male who left his home on Seventh Avenue North after an argument returned home of his own volition.

•Local police co-operated with Prince George RCMP in an investigation by interviewing a male resident from the 3700 block of Highway 21.

•A semi was reported to be stuck on Highway 3A near the Kootenay Bay ferry terminal.

January 6

•A female in the 1400 block of Northwest Boulevard reported that she did not want a former roommate at her residence.

•A female driver who was in a collision in the 400 block of Ninth Avenue North did not provide the male driver with pertinent information because the male was rude.

•A well-being check on an elderly male in the 8700 block of Yahk Settlement Road revealed that he was okay.

•A female in the 800 block of Balsam Road reported a concern that her estranged husband may have redirected a male from her address. Police found no evidence of such an occurrence.

January 7

•Creston police served a subpoena in the 4900 block of 36th Street at the request of Fort McMurray RCMP.

•RCMP are attempting to locate the owner of a Harley Davidson wallet found in a parking lot in the 300 block of 15th Avenue North.

•A 1970 Dodge pickup reported to be blocking a road in the 4900 block of Highway 3A in Wynndel was eventually moved by the owner.

•Loud bangs reported by a Reclamation Road resident turned out to be coming from someone testing avalanche control devices. He promised to find a more appropriate location to conduct his tests.

•A female in the 100 block of 26th Avenue North reported that a male stranger appeared at her door saying, “It’s cold.”

•When police received a report about an intoxicated male at the hospital, they located him at a nearby business. The 18-year-old was arrested and held in police cells until sober, then released with a ticket for being drunk in public.

•No injuries resulted when a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner flipped onto its side in a ditch on Highway 3 near Yahk.

January 8

•Patrolling police noted four apparently intoxicated males on Canyon Street and 12th Avenue. When they stopped, two became argumentative and were arrested, held in police cells and released when sober. The two, ages 27 and 34, were also issued tickets for being drunk in public.

•A window in a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup was smashed, possibly by a hammer, in the 1400 block of Erickson Road.

•Post boxes were pushed over on Eighth Avenue North.

•A male reported that someone took his skis in error while he was at Whitewater Ski Resort.

•A resident of Yahk Settlement Road reported being phoned by someone purporting themselves to be from Bell Canada. The resident refused to provide the personal information and called Bell Canada, only to find out the caller was not from their company.

•Police mediated a dispute between neighbours in the 200 block of Fourth Avenue South after one accused the other of damaging a for sale sign.

•It didn’t take a whole battery of experts, just one officer with a sharp eye and analytical mind. When a female in the 700 block of Devon Street called to report she couldn’t get her television to turn off, the officer went to the home, where he soon discovered she had placed batteries incorrectly into the remote control. Case closed.

•A 51-year-old male remains in police custody until a trial after police investigated a report that he assaulted another male in the 1200 block of North-west Boulevard. The culprit faces a number of charges, including assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer and uttering threats.

January 9

•When police responded to a 911 call in the 1500 block of Northwest Boulevard, they learned the caller had meant to dial 411.

•An 86-year-old female who was near death at her home in the 1800 block of Ash Street was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she died a short time later.

January 10

•A driver whose vehicle was hit by another in the 1200 block of Northwest Boulevard reported the other driver could not produce a driver’s licence.

•Investigation about a 911 call from the 1200 block of J.R. Blackmore Road revealed children had been playing with the phone.

•A theft of cash was reported by a business in the 1400 block of Canyon Street.
