The Blazed Creek wildfire continues to burn approximately 2 km north of Highway 3 and approximately 20 km west of Creston.

The fire was started by a lightning strike four weeks ago and is now estimated to be 6,798.0 hectares, according to the Southeast Fire Centre in Castlegar. Crews have completed a hand ignition operation on the west flank of the fire, tying it into an established machine guard. Crews have completed additional small-scale hand ignition operation on the southwest corner of the fire near the Highway 3.

While the fire is not currently affecting highway traffic, DriveBC continues to alert travellers of possible delays without notice and to watch for fallen debris, crews, and equipment. The highway corridor continues to be closely monitored during the day and overnight to monitor for additional changes by Yellowhead Road & Bridge Kootenay Limited (YRB)
