Film buffs and outdoor enthusiasts alike will love Wildsight Creston's upcoming event this month - a screening of the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF).
Every year, the VIMFF presents a visual journey of mountain culture, outdoor sports, environmental initiatives, and Indigenous-led projects.
"They're films that in are meant to inspire a love for nature in the outdoors, from skiing to hiking and biking," said Rebecca Gidney, Wildsight Creston branch manager, adding they hope to sell out the auditorium in support of local conservation.
The fun community event will be hosted at the Kootenay River Secondary School Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., with exciting door prizes from local businesses. This also serves as an annual fundraiser for Wildsight Creston, and a portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting their important work, such as public education, water quality monitoring, and wildlife fencing for western painted turtles.
Tickets cost $25 each for adults and $5 for youth under 18. A $5 early bird discount is in effect until Feb. 18. Tickets can be purchased at Kingfisher Books or online at wildsight.ca/events/vancouver-international-mountain-film-festival.
