Valentine's Day gift ideas for Creston couples

All of these ideas will leave your sweetheart smiling, while supporting local
v-day
Time together is the best way to spend Valentine's Day.

Valentine’s Day is only a week away, and while some may call it a “Hallmark holiday”, it’s never a bad idea to take the opportunity to celebrate love.

When finding a gift, you certainly don’t have to spend exorbitant amounts of money either. Choosing something locally-sourced that reflects your sweetheart’s interests is great but, often, the simple act of showing you care is enough.

Here are a few gift ideas, all of which support Creston businesses!

For the gals

• A book - There are two secondhand bookstores right in the heart of Creston offering an eclectic array of titles - Kingfisher Used Books and Country Life Books. If you’re unsure what genre to buy, bring your beloved bookworm in and browse together. Don’t forget to include a cute bookmark too.

• A spa gift certificate - This would be a wonderful treat for the overworked mother who never takes time for herself. Eagle Wing Wellness and Evexia Day Spa are two local options to check out, with all sorts of rejuvenating services.

• A bouquet of flowers - Here’s a classic, can’t-go-wrong choice. At Brittany’s Flower Farm, creating a perfect pink bouquet is her specialty (and it’s not too late to pre-order). However, if you want something more everlasting, pick up a new houseplant from Morris Flowers.

For the guys

• A meat “bouquet” - For the carnivore in your life, here’s an unorthodox idea. Visit Bindoya or Famous Fritz for a selection of dried meats to wrap in paper, just like you would a bouquet of flowers. While you’re there, be sure to find something juicy to throw on the grill too.

• A trip to the barber - Men deserve to be pampered too. Make an appointment for a proper trim and shave at one of the many local stylists in the downtown area.

• A new record - Within Modern Alchemy on Main Street, Public Vinyl has a collection of new and used records to please your adored audiophile. Ask the music-loving staff what they recommend.

If individual gifts aren’t your thing, here are a few more ideas to do together:

• Find a new board game - Creston Card & Stationery’s downstairs Toyland isn’t just for kids. The store has aisles of board games and puzzles for your next stay-at-home date night.

• Thrift for treasures - Challenge each other to find something cool, interesting, or downright weird under $10 at one of Creston’s secondhand haunts - Trinity Treasures, Gleaners, Secondhand Heaven, or Mission Thrift.

• Quality time - Forget about spending a ton of money, and get creative. Visit a local coffee shop and people watch. Cook dinner together and watch a movie at home. Go on a walk and enjoy the fresh, frosty air. If nothing else, time shared is the most priceless gift of all!
