The Armitage Building, home to the Visitor Centre, has been purchased by the Town of Creston.

The Town of Creston has recently acquired another building.

The Armitage Building, located at 121 Northwest Boulevard, was purchased from the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce. Currently, it serves as the permanent location for the Creston Valley Visitor Centre.

It is ideally situated between Creston’s iconic grain elevators and ʔak̓uǂni Park. Given its location, the purchase supports the shared economic development goals between the town and the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

The purchase of the building was made possible with support from Columbia Basin Trust, which contributed $366,000 through the Land Acquisition Grant.

“The town’s vision is to transform the building into a permanent public space dedicated to promoting tourism, arts, culture, and heritage within the Creston Valley,” said Mayor Arnold DeBoon.

Presently, no changes in tenancy to the building are anticipated. The Town of Creston is looking forward to working with the current tenants and planning for a future that is community-oriented.
