Multi-award-winning band Red Dirt Skinners are bringing their show to Kootenay River Theatre in Creston on March 27.

After a long term illness, 2023 had threatened to end the career of the internationally touring band, but luckily 2024 became the stuff of dreams.

The Skinners had a landmark year, playing 42 shows to capacity audiences across Canada.

“We couldn’t believe it, the ticket sales just flooded in. Our fans are incredible,” said Sarah Skinner, grateful for the return of her health and the lung capacity that, as a professional saxophonist, she is known for.

While the Skinners were off tour, and Sarah was laid up on the sofa for several months, she wrote a book entitled, Are You Sure That’s a Saxophone? - a memoir of some of her experiences on the road touring. The book instantly became an Amazon “Hot New Release” in several categories.

By April, they had won “Indie Artist of the Year” at the 2024 Allevents awards, and six weeks before they commenced their extensive fall tour, for which all of their shows were sold out.

The Skinners are currently working on their ninth album and looking forward to their return to touring this spring. Their 52-date 2025 tour will bring them to Creston on Thursday, March 27. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m.
