Full Deal Insulation brings energy efficiency home to Creston

Their team helps clients access rebates for energy efficiency upgrades, potentially saving thousands in renovations

When Heather and Tyler Banman launched Full Deal Insulation, they weren’t just starting a business — they were building a vision for better homes and a stronger community.

The husband-and-wife team, both lifelong residents of the Creston Valley, knew firsthand the discomfort and inefficiency that came with older homes in the region.

“Starting this business meant walking away from steady paycheques, facing uncertainty, and juggling life with young kids,” said Heather. “Through all the challenges, we’ve chosen to move forward because our clients and community matter.”

After discovering a lack of local certified contractors for upgrades on their own house, they saw a gap that needed to be filled. With support from the Community Futures Self Employment Program, the Banmans turned a personal frustration into a professional mission.

Full Deal Insulation offers a full suite of residential insulation services — from upgrading older homes to meet today’s energy-efficiency standards, to insulating new builds in line with the BC Energy Step Code.

Each house project begins with a free consultation and thorough assessment of ventilation, moisture control, and air sealing to assess where improvements will have the most impact.

“We tailor every project to each home’s unique needs, with a focus on comfort, energy savings, and long-term results,” said Heather.

The company then offers help to clients to navigate energy rebate programs like CleanBC and FortisBC, as well as the federal Greener Homes Loan. They also recently introduced financing options, making it easier for homeowners to fund larger upgrades that extend beyond rebate coverage.

“These programs offer significant financial incentives for energy-saving upgrades,” said Heather. “We make sure clients understand what they're eligible for, help with the paperwork, and ensure installations meet the criteria — so they get the maximum rebate with minimal stress.”

For most income-qualified homeowners, these incentives can cover 60 to 95 per cent of project costs, like adding insulation or installing a heat pump.

“For clients, that means long-term savings, improved comfort, and a healthier home,” said Heather. “For us, it’s a way to help more people invest in their homes without financial strain. It also supports our mission to reduce energy use and build a more sustainable future for the Kootenays.”

The Banmans commitment to making a difference in their community is what keeps them motivated.

“We love being part of making people’s homes more comfortable and affordable to live in,” said Heather. “There's nothing better than hearing from a client who finally feels warm in the winter or cool in the summer without sky-high bills. It's incredibly rewarding to give back to the place we call home.”

Looking to the future, the Banmans hope to double the number of homes they upgrade each year, grow their team, and continue making a positive impact in Creston.

“We want to continue closing the gap between older homes and the standards of new energy-efficient builds,” said Heather. “We’re not just in this to insulate attics — we’re here to create lasting change.”
