This weekend, Creston Pet Adoption and Welfare Society is hosting its first PAWS and Peeps Family Day.
The festivities will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the shelter, located at 2805 Lower Wynndel Road.
“One of PAWS' mandates is to give back to the community, especially through education,” said Dallas Magrum, PAWS volunteer. “This is not a fundraiser, but we will, as always, have our donation jar available in case anyone wishes to donate.”
The event will include a barbecue, live childrens’ music, games, face painting, and a teddy bear clinic (to check the health of fuzzy friends).
Pet care education will also be a highlight of the day, including basic dog training tips.
“We want to pass along happy and responsible ownership information to both the kids and adults,” said Magrum.
Those interested in a behind-the-scenes peek into how PAWS operates with its volunteers will enjoy tours of the facility and visits with the shelter’s cats.
“It's a great opportunity to see what PAWS does to help the community, with rehoming pets and caring for them up until adoption,” Magrum said.
