Creston RCMP issued two search warrants related to drug activity.

Creston RCMP cracked down on getting illegal substances off the streets this week.

Following an extensive investigation, search warrants for two properties were issued – one on the 3000 block of Highway 3 in Erickson and the other in the 1200 block of 10 Ave. North in Creston.

On May 21, officers seized suspected illicit substances, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and Canadian currency.  Multiple people were arrested in both residences and have been released as the investigation continues, pending assessment of charges by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

Two individuals were also arrested on outstanding warrants not directly related to this investigation.

To assist in keeping the community safe during these operations, the Creston RCMP utilized the services of Southeast District Emergency Response, Crisis Negotiation, and Southeast District Containment teams.

“I am continually impressed by the tenacious efforts implored by the members of Creston detachment as it relates to disrupting the local drug trade," said Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk, Creston RCMP detachment commander.

"The public in the Creston Valley have made it abundantly clear the trafficking of these poisons in our area is unacceptable. We will continue to intervene and disrupt these activities aggressively, making the Creston Valley an inopportune location for these individuals to conduct their illicit business activities."

He also thanked residents for their support in bringing forward information on suspected drug trafficking. Any suspicious or drug-related activity is encouraged to be reported to the detachment by calling 250-491-9313.
