After a near sell out for our first performance of the season, Creston Concert Society is thrilled to present another quality act.
Ô-Celli, a group of classically trained musicians, will perform at the Kootenay River Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
The unique vibration of the cello which, multiplied by eight, gives a cathedral dimension of sound to the works arranged and revisited by the original and magnificent Belgian ensemble of cellos, featuring members Alexandre Beauvoir, Jean-Pierre Borboux, Corinna Lardin, Shiho Nishimura, Sébastien Walnier, Yoori Lee, Stephanie Huang, and Raphaël Perraud.
Their concerts are invitations to travel in time and beyond stylistic boundaries. From Verdi to Queen, via Strauss or Piazzolla, "in the end it's always the music that wins" (Michel Legrand). Ô-Celli is a human adventure initiated by Sébastien Walnier and Alexandre Beauvoir, who have gathered around them cellists, soloists, orchestrals or chamber musicians, who share the same passion for their instrument.
Featuring works by JS Bach (Toccata and Fugue in D minor), Strauss (Also Sprach Zarathustra), Bernstein (West Side Story), John Williams (E.T. and Harry Potter), it's a performance you won't want to miss.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 1. Advance tickets are $30 each for adults or $15 for youth, available in store at Kingfisher Books or Modern Alchemy (cash only) or online at crestontickets.ca.
Tickets are $35 adult and $15 youth at the door. A cash-only concession will be provided by Kootenay River Secondary School Student Council.
