Jeff Morris, an award-winning singer-songwriter from Edmonton, recently announced his 2011 Western Canadian tour. The 26-day trip across BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan includes a stop at Creston’s Snoring Sasquatch on Aug. 8.

“I’ve never been through Creston before but I’ve heard good things,” said Morris. “Hopefully my music will earn me a loyal Creston following.”

The 28-year-old folk singer is touring in support of his debut album, Original Songs On A Borrowed Guitar. The album was released in March of last year to glowing reviews, and received six nominations at the 2011 Edmonton Music Awards, including best album, best single, best solo artist, best folk artist and best live performance.

Morris’ music has garnered a lot of attention from music critics in Edmonton and has drawn comparisons to the likes of Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Brett Dennan.

“Jeff Morris cites Jack Johnson as an influence, but I think the local barkeep has even more potential than Hawaii's surfing folkie,” said Sandra Sperounes, music writer for the Edmonton Journal.

Morris’ entire debut album can be heard online at www.jeffmorris.bandcamp.com.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30. Tickets are $10 in advance at Kingfisher Books and Black Bear Books, and $12 at the door.
