They’re not going to pay rent, but the production team of the musical Rent is looking for billet homes for about two dozen cast and crew when Nelson’s Elephant Mountain Music Theatre (EMMT) visits Creston on Nov. 13, as part of an East Kootenay tour that also stops in Cranbrook, Golden and Invermere. Anyone putting up a member of the company will receive a free ticket to the local performance.

The production team has a strong Creston connection — sisters Laura Johnson and Rita Collinson (née Johnson) are the music director and production manager, respectively, and Johnson’s husband, Kevin Armstrong — who has performed solo several times at the Snoring Sasquatch — is the director and co-star.

EMMT’s production of the Tony Award-winning musical previously had a three-performance run in Nelson in the spring, and received a Columbia Basin Trust grant to tour this fall.
