The Snoring Sasquatch will play host to Calgary-based band, Locomotive Ghost, on Sept. 3. The folk-rock group, recently relocated from Nelson, will be performing in support of its new album, Close Your Eyes and Listen.
With an impending hiatus, Locomotive Ghost returned to the studio immediately upon completion of its successful summer 2010 tour. After touring everywhere from tiny bookstores to massive nigtclubs and battling extremes of weather from walls of fog to freak blizzards), the group turned road experiences into new tunes.
Somehow, amidst the members’ other commitments of running a recording studio, completing a music diploma and raising a family, everything fell into place for the album project to be realized with just hours to spare. The product of that serendipity is Close Your Eyes and Listen, a seven-song release that follows last year’s self-titled debut.
Locomotive Ghost offers folk music steeped in rock with an infusion of the alternative. It is a combination of songwriters, poets, producers and artists, disguised to look like just another rock and roll combo.
Each member’s unique strengths meld to create what the Grayowl Point blog called “a mature and confident sound that stands out from a lot of other Canadian bands right now.”
