A concert featuring local musician Karl Sommerfeld will be held at the Snoring Sasquatch on Oct. 13.
Born and raised and taught fiddling in Creston, Sommerfeld left home to pursue a degree in forestry. Returning in 2006, he renewed his interest in music and began performing with several local musicians of various genres, playing fiddle and later adding harmony vocals.
Over the years, Sommerfeld’s musical career has progressed as he began playing at festivals, touring and teaching workshops around B.C. and Alberta. His playing is also featured on recordings by Full Circle, Natalie Germann, the Oars and Elena Yeung.
With plans to move to Ontario for the winter, this concert will provide one last opportunity for several of Sommerfeld’s musical friends to perform with him until his return. Special guests will include Bryan Ferguson, and Elena Yeung and the Kootenay Express.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Advance tickets are $12, available at the Snoring Sasquatch, Black Bear Books and Kingfisher Used Books, and $15 at the door.
