Bocephus King is kicking off 2013 by touring Western Canada, including an encore live performance at Sirdar Pub on Jan. 17. Some of you may remember prior visits in years past, but this indie Vancouver musician is worth seeing live one more time. And if you haven’t seen him live before, then why not get out for an evening of remarkable music?

Bocephus King’s song list traverses his folksy blues sound, from early recordings from albums such as Joco Music (Tonic Records, 1996) and Small Good Thing (New West Records, 1998) to All Children Believe in Heaven (Tonic Records, 2004). Melodies cross over from a Latino-type beat through to a mournful and laid-back guitar pickin’ with overtones of the Middle East. His original material is thought provoking, reflecting his independent alternative country roots.

On the road again, Bocephus King will be playing in Alberta next after stopping in at Sirdar on Jan. 17 at 9 p.m. The cover charge is $8, and the Sirdar Pub wants to remind everyone to think ahead and drink responsibly.
