The Yasodhara Ashram celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and throughout 2013, the ashram is inviting professional musicians and dancers to perform.
Anusha Fernando is a performer, teacher and artistic director of Shakti Dance Society in Vancouver. At 7 p.m. May 25 in the Temple of Divine Light at Yasodhara Ashram, Fernando presents a concert in Bharata Natyam, Indian classical dance.
Fernando understands the depth of her tradition and also its potential for new creation. She will be performing two solo dances, Earth and Water.

Yasodhara Ashram is a yoga retreat and study centre founded in 1963 by swami Sivananda Radha. Today, 50 years after it began, the ashram remains a vibrant community welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the transformative power of yoga.
The ashram is like a small village with 115 acres on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake. The year-round population averages 50 to 55 people, with seasonal peaks of 100 to 110.
