With Grad 2024, just around the corner, Mountain Park Resort owner Dani Smith aims to help Creston high school grads in program dubbed “Sweet Repeats”.
As daily living costs for families continues to rise, Smith recognized a way that she could ease the burden and help grads in the Creston Valley, while providing a comfortable relaxed atmosphere for the students.
“I had seen a few posts, talking about grad dresses, so I talked with a few people, and decided to get it up and running,” Smith said. “I have the room (in the storefront), so I thought, why not do it? They all thought it would be a great idea for the Creston area.”
Sweet Repeats began taking donations of pre-owned dresses, many of which were in brand new condition. Various sizes, styles and colours are among the 75 dresses currently available.
There are also a few suits, though they are hoping for more suits to be donated.
“I’m all about empowering grads,” Smith said. “I want everyone to feel comfortable. I want people to feel free coming in on their own time, it doesn’t matter their orientation, we will make time for you”.
All the dresses and suits will be gifted to the grads free of charge.
The greatest need Sweet Repeats has right now are for financial donations to professionally dry clean each garment.
Repurposing is quickly gaining traction, and this program aims to make a difference.
In the case that a dress needs alterations and the student can’t cover the cost, there have been a few seamstresses that have stepped up, if needed.
If you are a 2024 grad, and still in need of a dress or suit, make a visit to mountain Park Resort.
