This riding season the Creston Valley Cycling Club, CVCC as members often call it, hopes to encourage interest in the sport by appealing to a wider range of cyclists.

Club members Daniel Secor and Margaret Miller are excited about the addition of a Recreational Riders group to the club. CVCC will continue to organize group rides for experienced road riders who enjoy faster-paced peloton riding. These rides will cover different routes and distances and leave from the College of the Rockies car park 3 times every week: Monday 6 pm, Wednesday 6 pm, Sunday 9 am. Riders are advised to arrive 15 minutes before set off time. New members are very welcome and the club’s Facebook page is a useful information source.

The new Rec. Riders group is intended to appeal to intermediate riders who own touring bicycles, hybrids, flat bar or road bikes. It hopes to bring together adult cyclists (19 or older) with a reasonable degree of fitness and help them with on-road routes, riding comfort and efficiency, and basic maintenance tips. Scheduled rides are a fun part of cycling and build a routine, riding stamina and confidence.

Interested in trying out a group ride? If you can happily keep your pedals turning for an hour, why not join one or two “Give it a Try” rides with Daniel and Margaret on May 12th and May 26th at 10 am. Please meet at the north end of the Mall parking lot 15 minutes before the ride start time. The rides will be No Drop- you will not be left behind on your own due to a mechanical problem or fitness level.

Please note helmets are mandatory on all Club rides. Properly inflated tires, a spare tube, and water bottle are recommended. As with all CVCC rides, guest riders are required to complete a pre-ride waiver. A small ride end prize draw will be offered in appreciation at the May 12th ride.
