Singalong to benefit Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors

Tarts and Tunes, an afternoon of goodies and group singing, will be held at Rotacrest Hall from 1-3:30 p.m. on Feb. 18.

This event sounds like too much fun to be missed — so prepare to sing along and raise funds for the Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors at the same time.

Tarts and Tunes, an afternoon of goodies and group singing, will be held at Rotacrest Hall from 1-3:30 p.m. on Feb. 18. It will be hosted by Mary Audia, a vocalist who was born on Bell Island, N.L., and moved to B.C. in 1970.

A Nelson resident since 1978, Audia has enjoyed performing in jazz and rock bands, operas and various musical productions, as well as leading sing-alongs for people of all ages. She worked as a co-ordinator of an adult day centre from 1989-2007, and it was there that she saw the importance of music and the singalong. She has recently received funding to produce a singalong book for seniors.

If you don’t know the words, song sheets will be provided — so there’s no reason not to join in the fun.

Tickets are $10 and available at Kingfisher Used Books, Black Bear Books, Cresteramics and at TAPS.
