The community of Canyon has a lot to be proud of. Our dear old Canyon Hall has a newly renovated and modernized interior featuring many upgrades and additional rental space.

Once again, Canyon residents rolled up their sleeves and donated thousands of hours of volunteer time and resources to get the job done in a remarkably short period of time. Some of our volunteers who helped to build the original hall after the former burned to the ground in 1976 were also on hand.

The project was by no means a simple one. Years of moisture damage to the interior portions of the exterior walls and the risk of mold necessitated the gutting and rebuilding of the entire interior of the hall.

Building on the support and the renewed community spirit from the 2010 centennial/homecoming celebration, the Canyon Commu-nity Association board decommissioned the hall in September 2010. The community, in turn, supported the project and an army of volunteers worked wonders over the course of five months to complete it. It was on the strength of this volunteer involvement and financial commitment from the CCA board and community that enabled Columbia Basin Trust to become a financial partner, as well.

Therefore, it is with pride and pleasure that the CCA extends an invitation to the valley to attend our official opening come and go tea from 1-4 p.m. on June 4. Tours and refreshments will be provided.
