Creston’s Royal Canadian Army Cadets Corps Squadron 1746 will be holding its 59th annual ceremonial review (ACR) at 3 p.m. May 30 at the Lower Kootenay Band complex. The public is invited to join the parents and friends to view the ceremony that completes the local training year.

The ACR will include demonstrations planned and organized by the cadets. They will include the pipe and drum band, first aid and various static displays highlighting what the cadets have done throughout the year. Trophies and medals are presented to the most proficient cadets, including the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence and Lord Strathcona Trust Medal. The reviewing officer will be Virginia Bergman, a former cadet and owner of Gin’s on Canyon.

The aim of the organization is to develop the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate an interest in the activities of the Canadian Forces. Young people 12-18 may enrol. The new training year starts Sept. 2; the squadron meets 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the Royal Canadian Legion.
