Today (Aug. 26) is National Dog Day.

Conceived in 2005 to raise awareness of dogs that need rescuing, and encourage appreciation for family dogs and working dogs, it’s the perfect opportunity to highlight the four-legged friends that make our lives a little (or a lot!) brighter.

We invited readers to send us photos of their pups on our Facebook page, and we’ve gathered the pick of the litter to share with you.
