Openings remain in Lyle Grisedale’s photography workshop, the felted owl workshop with Leah Wilson, the “paint and pour” with Brandy Dyer at Baillie Grohman Estate Winery, as well as kayaking, birding expeditions, Sunday birding with Ed McMackin, and tours to the Dairy farm and Food Forest. There is also a seat waiting at Gary Davidson’s presentation “Birds of South Africa and Namibia.”

James Duncan, Saturday night’s keynote speaker, has studied owls for thirty years. Presently, Jim is the Director of the Wildlife and Fisheries Branch of Manitoba where he is active in local, national and international biodiversity conservation initiatives.

Jim has published three books, numerous scientific papers and symposium proceedings on owls from around the world. He has also served as adjunct professor at the Universities of Manitoba and Winnipeg where he supervised graduate research students studying owls and other birds of prey. Jim claims that his job is simply a way to support his obsessive habit of studying owls with his wife and fellow zoologist, Patsy.

Advance Tickets to James Duncan are available at Kingfisher and Black Bear Books for $20.00 adult, $2.00 for youth. They are also available online or at the College of the Rockies until midnight, Thursday, May 10. Tickets are $25.00 at the door.
