Kalesnikoff has been recognized for its energy saving efforts by FortisBC.

The West Kootenay lumber company is the recipient of a FortisBC Efficiency in Action Award.

Kalesnikoff received the industrial award for energy efficiency upgrades to its lumber mill, including a high efficiency conveyor system and compressors that are expected to achieve energy savings of approximately 1.62 million kilowatt hours per year.

Kalesnikoff also participated in FortisBC’s Industrial Strategic Engagement Management Program, working with dedicated industry consultants to identify low-cost energy savings projects using resources it already has.

“We are always looking for efficiencies in everything we do,” says Dwane Sorenson, Kalesnikoff VP of operations. “Whether it is trying to add more value to the products we produce or using less of the resources we consume. We appreciate that Fortis supports and recognizes their customers that work diligently to do more with less. “

FortisBC VP Joe Mazza says, “Energy efficiency remains one of the most effective and affordable ways to reduce GHG emissions, and the efforts of the winning organizations represent some of the best work we’re seeing in this area.”
