On Feb.18 at Rotacrest Hall, the Creston Valley branch of Wildsight is pleased to host Adrian Leslie, the project manager of Darkwoods conservation area for the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
Leslie is a professional biologist focused on species at risk, fire ecology, ecosystem restoration and climate change adaptation. He has worked from wetland to mountaintop throughout the Columbia Basin for the past 15 years.
Managing Darkwoods provides interesting challenges with its history of human disturbance and a future facing climate change. He will provide a brief history of Darkwoods, why it became the largest private conservation property in Canadian history, and discuss future conservation and restoration work through the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
Leslie’s presentation begins at 7 p.m., with Wildsight’s annual general meeting to follow. Admission will be taken at the door.
