“Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swore by him that lives for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.”
Stood other two – It is possible that they are angels. One on one side of the river and the other on the other side. A question is asked of the “man clothed in linen.”
Bank of the river – This is the same river as in chapter 10, as there is no break in the prophecy thus far from chapter 10, it is the River Euphrates/Tigris.
The man clothed in linen is the same person in Daniel 10:5-6 – Christ. The act of raising a hand to heaven shows the importance of the declaration and the raising of both hands shows how important the message is.
One of the angels asks, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? A solemn answer shall be for a time, times, and half a year: one year, two years and half a year = 1260 days in prophetic time and then the scattering of the power of the holy people. This time period ended in 1798 and we live today in the scattering period for God’s people.
The period is also mentioned in Daniel 7:25, in Revelation 11:3 and Revelation 12:6. Three times! God considers it very important to understand! When this time is over, the end will come. 1260 days is the time 538-1798 A.D., the era of the dark ages supremacy over Europe.
When he shall have…scattering the power of the holy people – The ‘he’ is a reference to God, who is working through the nations of the earth to fulfill His plan to lovingly call as many as possible to salvation.
This is the message spreading worldwide. Sometimes persecution is the only thing that will wake the people of God up to seek Him and do the work He has asked of them even though it is not politically correct.
The gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16) and when this gospel goes into all the world, the end will come. (Matthew 24:14) Revelation 3:10 and 14:6-7. Love demands the truth of the everlasting gospel to be preached to every nation, kindred, tongue and people.
