Val Mayes of Winlaw has been invited by Marchwrite Services to teach at the Snoring Sasquatch on March 13. She will be presenting tips, tricks and resources for getting and keeping the best people on your team.

Mayes, who holds a master’s degree in adult education, has worked in the field of community development for over 30 years.

“I recently had the pleasure of attending a series of workshops Val Mayes gave on the East Shore,” said Marc Archambault, owner of Marchwrite Services. “I was so impressed with her teaching that I asked her to speak in Creston. Being involved with several non-profit organizations myself, I knew the topic of how to find the right volunteers would be very relevant.”

“I don’t know any organization in the Creston area that isn’t having issues with volunteer resources,” said Dave St. Germain from Yahk, a veteran community leader.

The workshop will cover the fundamentals of a volunteer program: recruitment, screening, training, placement, tracking, evaluation and recognition. Registration is $30 (plus GST) and is available online at www.marchwrite.ca/workshops.html or in-person at the Snoring Sasquatch. The event will start with a potluck networking social at 5:30 p.m., followed by the workshop from 6-9 p.m.
