The Creston Valley Gleaners Society donated $103,050 to local organizations in 2010, made possible by community donations, customers and Gleaners volunteers, who worked over 27,000 hours last year.

The Creston Valley Gleaners Society donated $103,050 to local organizations in 2010, made possible by community donations, customers and Gleaners volunteers, who worked over 27,000 hours last year.

Funds from Gleaners went to the Creston Ministerial Association ($6,000, medical fund; Christmas hampers, $2,500), Trinity United Church ($1,800, Wednesday lunch program), Kootenai Community Centre Society ($13,800, daycare snacks, general advocacy, Beyond Wyld), Creston Community Resource Centre ($18,000, Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors, daycare snacks, Cornerstone Clubhouse), School District No. 8 ($5,000 Prince Charles Secondary School bursaries; $1,500, elementary school programs), College of the Rockies ($2,000 bursaries), Creston boys and girls retreats ($5,350), Addiction Recovery in the Kootenays ($100), Creston and District Society for Community Living ($500, Therapeutic Riding Program), Creston Valley Hospice Society ($1,500), Creston Valley Gleaners Society food bank ($45,000).
