Creston Rotary Club president Don Tarrant presented a cheque for $1,000 to Tyson Steed representing the Grade 6/7 class at Canyon-Lister Elementary School.

The class, along with teacher Judy Gadicke, recently travelled from Sandpoint to Seattle by train and then took a ferry from Seattle to Victoria. The students stayed at the University of Victoria and visited the Parliament buildings, the Royal BC Museum, the Shaw Ocean Centre and the Pacific Geoscience Centre.

The students worked hard to raise funds with bake sales and pizza sales, and selling poinsettias and Easter flowers. They also had support from the Creston and District Credit Union and Regional District of Central Kootenay Area B to reach their $15,500 goal.
