Every year prior to Remembrance Day, Branch No. 29 of the Royal Canadian Legion invites Creston Valley students to create posters and write poetry honouring Canada’s war dead. Winners in the local contest go on to a zone competition, where they are judged against entries from all over the East Kootenays.

Students at Mormon Hills School submitted over 80 entries to the local contest, several of which went on to the zone competition. Ian Currie, Branch No. 29 poppy chair recently presented awards to the winners in the zone contest.
