Creston businesses and farmers’ market nominated for We Heart Local Awards

Voting is now underway for the We Heart Local Awards, which celebrate local food and agriculture across B.C.

According to, which runs the contest, it is “a first-of-its-kind popular choice awards program inviting all British Columbians to recognize and elevate your favourite key players across the food and agriculture industry throughout our province.”

Nominations were open July 1-15, and voting runs until Aug. 5. All voters and nominators are automatically included into a prize draw for a chance to win 1 of 20 $100 gift cards to their local farmers’ market, as well as a weekend wine getaway in the Okanagan.

Locally, the Creston Valley Farmers’ Market has been nominated for favourite farmers’ market, Kootenay Alpine Cheese Co. for favourite cheese maker, Purple People Feeder for favourite food truck, and Cherrybrook Farms in both the U-pick farm and orchard/fruit supplier categories.
