On Victoria Day, Creston Valley Regional Airport Society and the Creston Flying Club volunteers are hosting the Creston Airport and Emergency Service Appreciation Day from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. All are invited to join them to view some 30 aircraft, as well as the static displays of some of the users of the airport, as part of the Creston Valley Blossom Festival.

The purpose of this initiative is to highlight the importance and usefulness of the airport and emergency services facility to all of the Creston Valley’s people. The airport is the property of the Town of Creston, funded by Regional District of Central Kootenay and is managed by these CVRAS volunteers.

Weather permitting, the program includes an early morning flight over town, non-hosted breakfast and lunch starting at 8 a.m., a static display by airport users and their hardware, some flight displays (including an RC aircraft with an on board surveillance camera), paid sightseeing flights (fixed wing and possibly helicopter), a raffle for three free sightseeing flights, and tractor rides and water rocket building for the kids.

At hand will be volunteers of the Integrated Border Enforcement Team, Creston Fire Rescue, Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, ground search and rescue, commercial pilots, experimental aircraft builders, visiting aircraft and their pilots to field questions from visitors regarding aircraft, hobbies and passion. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy some great meals, meander through the hangars and view the aircraft.
