For an entire week, students at Canyon-Lister Elementary School discussed at length what it means to be a peacemaker.

During morning announcements, students got to listen to peace songs ranging from Peace Train to Imagine, as well as listening to messages of how to create peace in the world and in their own school. These activities were amongst the thousands around the world to celebrate the United Nations International Day of Peace on Sept. 21.

On that afternoon, students went to different classrooms to work on decorations that will hang from a Peace Tree that will adorn one of the hallways at school. Later there was an assembly in the gym where students listened to several videos, including one featuring Jane Goodall talking about the Roots and Shoots program, which CLES is a part of.
