It was shortly after 8 a.m. Dec. 5 that the first chainsaw engine starting buzzing. Within minutes, the sound of axes on wood, trucks being filled and blades whirring exploded through the air.
The Bountiful Youth Group’s annual Christmas firewood day was in full motion and the volunteers were excited to tackle the project. The energy was alive with the spirit of giving, and everywhere were laughter and shouts of encouragement as each truck left and returned to be filled again.
The goal to beat last year’s 22 loads of wood and was achieved by 11 a.m. Only a short stop for a delicious soup and biscuit lunch interrupted the day’s activity. By 1:30 the event was wrapped up with an astounding 37 loads of wood hauled, split and stacked. High fives went out and smiling faces were abundant as everyone gathered up their equipment and told of their experiences.
What a day! And what a community to be a part of! We are proud to call the Creston Valley home and to contribute to the holiday spirit found here.
