After three decades, Yvonne Brownfield was proud have her quilt earn a people’s choice rosette at the Creston Valley Quilters Guild’s 30th anniversary show in April.

This quilt, Asian Wonder, was pieced by Yvonne Brownfield — who was inspired by the book One-Block Wonders by Maxine Rosenthal — and commercially quilted by Irene Dubeau.

“The main quilt was constructed from one piece of fabric called Geisha’s Asian Splendor,” said Brownfield. “I normally bought a pattern then went out to purchase suitable material. With this quilt I purchased fabric that had a ‘repeat’, then proceeded to cut the material into layers, then triangles and they finally formed unique kaleidoscope blocks. The blocks were then arranged into a pleasing design.

“I was so thrilled to receive the rosette after thirty years of trying.”

Other winners that weekend included Patt Robichaud, who won first prize, a quilt and basket, in the raffle. Second prize, a lap quilt, went to Lori Wilson, and Barb Bunt won third prize, a table runner.
