To help out victims of last month’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan, students at Adam Robertson Elementary School are creating a “wall of hope” by collecting enough coins to make a 10-metre wall with one column each of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.

Until April 21, students are asked to collect coins for the effort, during which they will be counted by Judy Gadicke’s Grade 4 class, which will keep track of how many are collected and how high the wall is growing. After the project is completed, the money will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

Coins will be rolled from 2-2:30 p.m. on Fridays. For more information or to volunteer, call the school at 250-428-2051.
