A total of 13 members from the Creston Judo Club attended the Invermere Judo Tournament on May 14. Also attending were participants from Cranbrook, Salmo, Castlegar, Raymond and Calgary.

Eleven members returned with medals: Joseph Albert (silver), Gage Androshak (bronze), Odin Bartsch (gold), Kyle Qualtieri (gold), Justin Juurlink (gold), Kaeden Rendek (gold in two divisions), Dylan Armitage (bronze), Brandon Hills (silver), Carola Storcks (gold), Dillon Hack (gold in two divisions) and Leelen Samuelson (gold in two divisions).

U9 members Cheyann Albert and Declan Androshak received participation certificates.

The parents and students appreciate senseis Munroe Albert and Ben Reinhardt for their dedication and time in teaching and preparing the students for the tournament. The club also appreciates the many parents who spent many of their nights and weekends driving to and from the dojo so their children can have an opportunity to participate in this Olympic sport.

The club is in the final stages of completing it’s new dojo (club facilities) in the lower level of Creston Place and look forward to its Sept. 12 opening.

Registration for fall classes is on Sept. 12. Contact Shannon Juurlink at 250-402-6737 or Sheila Qualtieri at 250-866-5269 for more information.
