In January, club member Kaeden Rendek was invited to compete in a tournament in Revelstoke as part of the Youth Sport BC program, where he finished in first place.

Winning gold medals at the Fernie tournament in February were Dillon Hack, Kaydon Booth, Justin Juurlink and Brae Booth. Rendek won double gold while competing in two divisions. Silver medals were awarded to Leelen Samuelson, Carola Storcks and sensei Ben Reinhardt.

As well as the individual event, there was a team challenge with each club entering as a five-person team.  Creston lost a hard-fought decision to the Salmo club, which went on to eventually win the team challenge trophy.

Rendek and Samuelson also attended the Vancouver Interna-tional Tournament in Richmond with Rendek winning gold in the 11 and under division.  Samuelson (brown belt) recorded an impressive two win and two loss showing against competitors, many of whom were ranked with a higher black belt status.
