The Kootenay regional masters curling qualifying playoff was held in Nelson on Feb. 2 and 3. Teams from Sparwood, Nelson and Creston played a double knockout with the Creston team going through undefeated to claim a berth at the provincial championship.

The Creston team defeated Nelson and Sparwood to win the A event but struggled in the B event final, falling behind Nelson 7–0 after five ends before coming back to win 8-7 in an extra end.

The team of Doug Bothamley, Laddie Pavlis, Vern Ronmark, Ross Gowan and Terry O’Connor, who replaced an injured Ross Gowan, will travel to Cowichan for the Curl BC provincial championship from Feb. 28-March 3.
