On Oct. 16, the Prince Charles Secondary School junior boys soccer team won the East Kootenay zone championships for the fifth year in a row. The boys, coached by Bill Ferguson, defeated Golden and Kimberley to take home the medal.

On Oct. 18, the senior boys volleyball team opened their season, sweeping Mount Sentinel (South Slocan) five straight. The boys, coached by Rick Czar and Wade Giles, then travelled to Kelowna where they struggled against some high-calibre teams and lack of game experience this season and finished 29/32.

The senior girls, coached by Allison Kepke and Bob Gollan, travelled to Kelowna on Oct. 18 and 19, as well. The girls played well and finished 10th out of 16 in the middle tier, or and 25th out of 44 overall.

PCSS hosted a Grade 9/10 (junior) tournament on Oct. 18 and 19. The tournament included the PCSS junior boys (coached by Ryan Windhorst), Grade 8 boys (coached by Mike Nelson and Larry Hills) and two junior girls teams (coached by Gillian Kemle, Kelsey Windhorst, Dianne MacDonald and Joyce Lawrence). The junior girls A team tied for third and the B team finished sixth overall. The junior boys finished second overall. The Grade 8 boys tied for third overall.
