To the Editor:

A few weeks ago, my husband and I stopped off in Creston on our brief golf holiday from Vancouver to Calgary via the beautiful south Kootenays. Creston seemed like the right place to overnight.

Since we did not know the town at all, and did not want to eat in a chain restaurant, we discovered Aldo’s Italian cuisine tucked away on the main road.

What a delightful restaurant! The decor, casual atmosphere and the food were absolutely great — so authentic, so Italian, not to mention huge portions at reasonable prices. We ended up taking half of our dinner back to our room because we just could not eat all of it in one go. The husky construction workers at the next table sure did not have anything left over!

What made our evening in this restaurant was the comfort of cloth napkins and tablecloths, an open kitchen with a friendly owner/chef Aldo and a wonderful, efficient server.

Aldo told us about his desire to be truly authentic without compromising on the local customers’ tastes and habits, which is what he has succeeded in doing really well.

To discover this gem of a restaurant in Creston was one of the highlights of our trip! Wishing Aldo’s the very best of success.
