To the Editor:
As fall approaches, we Creston Valley Gleaners Society volunteers find ourselves victims of our own success. The snowbirds will soon be heading south and predictably in the retirement age group, in which many of us fall, there are those who must leave for health reasons. We simply do not have enough new volunteers for what we consider a most worthy endeavour.
Ask any of the store’s staff, and they all say the same thing: how much they enjoy the work, it’s challenges and the camaraderie that benefits all of us. Many have volunteered here for five to 10 years or more.
Please consider donating at least four hours per week. Come and see what we do behind the scenes and what community projects we support. It really is amazing.
