Bible shows hope for the future

Is there hope for a new era? Absolutely! The prophet Isaiah tells us, “For behold I create a new heavens and a new earth: And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.”

To the Editor:

In the Jan. 27 Advance, Lorne Eckersley in This is the Life poses a question regarding guns and the state of things in the U.S. “One is left to wonder if there really is any hope for a new era of civility and rational behavior in a rapidly declining society” and “maybe society has deteriorated beyond the point where [restricting gun sales] might make any difference.”

Is there hope for a new era? Absolutely! The prophet Isaiah tells us, “For behold I create a new heavens and a new earth: And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.” (Isaiah 65:17) The hope is not in man, but in the Lord Jesus.

The unbelievers will say, “What a pile of rubbish,” a great multitude could care less and those who know the Lord and His prophecies, which have been 100 per cent accurate for thousands of years, will praise Him for life eternal freely offered to all who accept and abide in Him.

There are two possibilities.

1. The Bible is wrong and this is it. 1 Corinthians 15:14-19 says, “If Christ is not risen we preach in vain.” We all perish. Eat drink and make merry for this is it. Sounds like the world today; if it feels good, do it.

2. The Bible is right and those who reject it will miss out on a joyous, glorious, life eternal with the earth made new.

How did the world get in such a mess? We have forgotten God and God’s law, the Ten Commandments, so mayhem reigns.

When France threw out the Bible in the Dark Ages, a reign of terror followed. When the church withheld the Bible from the people, 1,260 years of persecution saw over 50 million people slain.

Society today also is rejecting God and His Laws and we are paying the price! Sadly even some of the Christian churches have delegated His laws to suit themselves, their own desires or minimized them to the 10 suggestions.

Man continues to go it on his own, to do it himself. He has even started to believe Satan’s first lies at Genesis 3:4 and 5, “You will not surely die” and “You will be like God” — the so-called New Age thinking. So God has been tossed out and the world is reaping the whirlwind.

Matthew 13:15 says, “For the heart of this people has grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 says. “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Man’s laws are not the answer; turning our hearts to God and His law is.
