Marsha Rene Hollis (nee Moon)

January 22,1947 ~ January 13, 2011

Rene was an exceptional lady; her determination to win her battle with cancer was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was born in Vancouver, BC to Jeanie Elizabeth and Frank Moon. In 1961 she moved with her father to Kingsgate, BC.

On June 9, 1966, she married Robert R. Hollis. They continued to live in Kingsgate where their lives were fulfilled raising their two children, Christopher and Jeanie. Rene was a stay at home mom and her family needs came first but she always found time to nurse a sick relative or friend, to help her mother or take in a neighbor's pet. The children loved Rene, she never forgot a birthday or a special event and there was always a present to open. She was an excellent cook and her talents were always in demand for family reunions and community events.

To Rene flowers meant happiness. From her own greenhouse, she shared her plants with all her friends. Her garden was a profusion of exotic flowers. A walk-about was like a fantasyland with her garden of elves, hidden birdhouses, swinging bird feeders and ceramic animals nestled in the bushes.

Christmas and weddings were treasured times for her. Her beautiful Christmas floral centerpieces graced the tables of numerous friends. Her bridal bouquets, corsages and wedding decorations brought happiness to many newlyweds. Using nature's bounty, she did crafts for every season and shared her unique talent with others.

For thirteen years Rene was the radio dispatcher for the Hall Mountain Volunteer Fire Department in the USA and the Yahk Kingsgate Volunteer Fire Department. Through the years in Kingsgate, Rene was an active community worker in both Kingsgate and Yahk. The draw of the ocean made visits to Long Beach on Vancouver Island Rene's favorite holiday.

Rene was predeceased by her mother Jeanie Elizabeth.

Rene is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert Hollis; daughter Jeanie (Curtis) and grandson Logan Wullum; son Christopher (Donna) and grandson Hayden and granddaughter Izabell Hollis, brother-in-law Thomas Hollis (Barb); Sisters -in-law Betty Hollis and Vivian Millington; nieces and nephews along with her adopted mother Elaine Metz (Thring) and adopted sisters Adele, Sharon, Marlene and adopted brother Ben Thring.
