Karl Zimmerman

Karl Zimmerman passed away May 14, 2017 at Crest View Village at the age of 88 years.

Karl was born in Emmen, Luzern, Switzerland. He was raised in a family of 12 at the Buseri in Merlischachen. and immigrated to Canada in 1953. He worked for three years on farms in Ontario to be granted his Canadian citizenship. Moving to B.C., he worked in sawmills and with road construction. He met his wife Agnes, another Swiss immigrant, when she was living in the 'Henhouse' dormitory in Ocean Falls. They raised three children - Kathleen, Frank, and Deborah.

For 28 years they resided in Clearwater, B.C. where Karl was working for School Maintenance and tending his beloved hobby farm, sharing his knowledge and skills with the neighbouring farmers. In 1992, Karl and Agnes retired to Creston where they actively participated in card playing, the Seniors' Center, Gleaners, T.A.P.S. and curling. Karl was a man of great integrity whose word was his bond, and he will be deeply missed.
