November, 1942 ~ August, 2017

Born in Northern Saskachewan, the baby of a large family, Jim came to Kitchener with his parents and siblings at the age of five. He was educated in the one room Kitchener school, Erickson Elementary, and graduated from Prince Charles Secondary. Somewhat of an athelete, he was a distance runner for the high school track team.

After graduation he moved to Toronto to apprentice as a mechanic in his brother's garage. Apprenticeship completed, B.C. called him back to Trail where he owned and operated his own garage and car wash for several years.

In the Kootenays again, Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He spent much of his time hunting, fishing, berry picking, woodcutting, and recreating with his family and friends.

He had great love and respect for the old way of life and was always grateful he had grown up with the freedom of a country boy.

His health began to desert him in the early 2000s and his last years were spent working when he was able, gardening, building and maintaining his home and vehicles. His decline was steady until his passing on August 16, 2017.

Jim will be sadly missed by his partner Vicky, two sons, four daughters, one brother, two sisters, a large extended family, and his many dogs and birds.
