Iva Truscott

September 12, 1921 - August 13, 2011

Iva Truscott, 89, of Creston, BC. died at home on August 13, 2011 surrounded by her family and the sound of tractors and farm workers as she had been around those sounds all of her life.

Iva was born to Laurence and Sybil Watt in Kitscoty, Alberta on September 12, 1921. Iva graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton in 1946 and came to Creston and worked in the hospital here for many years where she took care of many early Creston residents as babies. Iva proudly would reminisce about the time when so many babies were born in the old Creston hospital that they had to use drawers in dressers as bassinettes. She worked as a nurse in the Creston Medical Clinic in 1975. Together, Iva and her husband Lew started Truscott’s Honey Farm and fruit stand back in the 1960’s and farmed the many orchards and fields that her family still work today.

Iva was on the original Board of Pioneer Villa when it was built, and she loved to golf. But the love of Iva’s life was her family and she will be so missed by her husband Lew Truscott; her son Bill Truscott (Barbara) and daughter Susan Snow (Gary); grandchildren Derra Truscott, Kristie Williams (Dustin), Courtney Truscott, Chelsea Truscott and Micah Snow; great-grandchildren Ethan Truscott and Riley Williams; Iva’s sister Dorothy Barbour and her children and grandchildren.

Iva lost her brother Larry Watt and sister Phyllis Fedick several years ago but will be missed by their many children and grandchildren as well. We will all miss her terribly, but she is preparing a home for all of us there as she did so well in life.

The family will be having a Celebration of Life Gathering on September 12, 2011 at the Orchard Barn Wellness Centre at 3020 Erickson Road from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is requesting that donations be made in Iva's memory to the B.C. Cancer Foundation in Kelowna, B.C.
