Hilda Christina Beier

Hilda Christina Beier passed away on February 9, 2017 in Creston, BC at the age of 93 years.
Hilda was born in Sänd, Germany on June 18, 1923. She came to Canada in April of 1952 to join her husband Bruno who had arrived the year before. They moved from Crowsnest Pass, Alberta to Creston, B.C. in 1953. Hilda, on top of raising her growing family, also worked various jobs in Creston until she and Bruno started Beier’s Poultry Farm in 1957. She worked there until her retirement. Her retirement years were full of enjoying her grandchildren, the Heidi Club, lunch groups, seniors' dances, pancake breakfasts, Oktoberfests and church.
Hilda is predeceased by her parents Johann and Christina, brother Kurt, sister Liesel, and daughter-in-law Wendy.
She is survived by her sister Mina in Germany; sons Werner (Laura), Ralph (Calista), and Hugh Beier of Erickson, B.C.; grandchildren Christie (Terry) Booker of Creston, B.C., Shaun (Jolene) Beier of Cranbrook, B.C., Nicole Edwards of Crossfield, AB, Dustin Edwards of Calgary, AB, and Mark Beier of Calgary, AB; great-grandchildren Kathryne and Addisyn Beier of Cranbrook, B.C., Andrew, Aidan, and Liam Sutherland of Creston, B.C., and various other relatives in Germany and Switzerland.
A service was held on Friday February 17, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry Haberstock as the officiant. Friends and family wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Redeemer Lutheran Church 315 15th Avenue North, PO Box 479, Creston, BC V0B 1G0.
